Gerow Hair ink is a relatively young brand, which was founded in 2016 by Jonathan Gerow and Erik Roberto. Jonathan a celebrated leader in the scalp micropigmentation industry and Erik a master barber with two decades of experience and many accolades to his name were tired of the stagnation of the hair restoration industry and decided to change status quo.
They decided that the best way to fix this undesirable predicament was to do something about it instead of waiting for the hair restoration industry to change on its own. Both world leaders in their respective fields understood the true potential of scalp micropigmentation and it’s ability to address virtually all forms of hair loss in both men and women. Their only problem? Mindshare. Scalp micropigmentation was not widely known / accepted as a viable alternative to the mainstream hair restoration solutions that were available.
From the moment Gerow Hair Ink was brought into existence both Jonathan and Erik’s goal was to make scalp micropigmentation the preeminent hair restoration solution. To do this they put together a team of likeminded individuals whose focus was not just about the bottom line and instead, on educating the world of the merits of scalp micropigmentation. In their words

Chris Lopez is a seasoned scalp micropigmentation practitioner with several thousand completed treatments. Like many in the SMP industry, he began his journey after experiencing hair loss first hand. In his words, “I started losing my hair straight out of high school, it was a horrible experience. I tried everything to address it, from wearing hats everywhere I went, trying various topical chemical treatments to undergoing an expensive hair transplant procedure – nothing worked.” After having his SMP treatment he realized how special Scalp Micropigmentation was “it changed my life, I felt complete. It had such a profound impact on my life that I wanted to share this feeling with others suffering from the various forms of hair loss.” Leaning on his innate artistic ability derived from years spent capturing captivating images on an untold number of sketchbooks and scraps of paper and the skills/experiences gained over the years as an SMP practitioner, Chris has been – and will continue to provide clients with nothing but the best that the scalp micropigmentation industry has to offer.
Juan Collado, a banker by trade, began his Scalp Micropigmentation journey in Toronto, Canada in 2016. Later that year, he took additional training courses in NYC, before opening up his own practice, ‘Ink Barbers’, in Queens, NY. After a year in business, he decided to join forces with the world’s most recognized and established studio, ‘Gerow Hair Ink’ where he quickly transitioned from a role as a practitioner to becoming the Lead Trainer and Coordinator. There he has had the privilege of training hundreds of students and, completing hundreds more in client treatments; playing a pivotal role in helping cement the brand to what it is today.
Victor Cortes or ‘Vic’ is an accomplished scalp micropigmentation practitioner with nearly a decade of experience and thousands of satisfied clients. Like many in the SMP industry his scalp micropigmentation journey began when he first began to lose his hair in his mid-20s. This had a profound impact on his life, he found himself no longer being able to enjoy sports or working out, activities that were an important part of his life. Tired of the hassle of having to own/wear many hats he decided that it was time to do something about his hair loss. It was through his research in the various hair loss solutions that were available that he came across scalp micropigmentation, and was instantly drawn by the simplicity in how it addressed hair loss. Victor’s passion for scalp micropigmentation stems from his own experience with the procedure. His SMP treatment changed his entire life, and now he hopes to change others’ lives so that they can also regain their confidence once again. Victor’s passion and desire to help others who are going through what he went through with his hair loss is what motivates him to be one of the very best scalp micropigmentation practitioners. He says the procedure is “more than life-changing, it is freedom.”
Jonathan Gerow is a highly accomplished SMP expert who is renowned for offering advanced Micro pigmentation techniques. Jonathan became interested in hair restoration after his mother developed cancer and suffered from massive hair loss during her treatment. While his mother was still recovering, Jonathan acquired hair restoration skills and also developed the proprietary SMP technique for treating his clients effectively. Erik Roberto is New York state’s top source for men’s grooming needs, a role that he has proudly held for the better part of his quarter century career in the trade. However, the true story is that Erik actually began his journey when he was just twelve years-old at a well-known barber shop called Guarious Barbershop. Erik often visited the barbershop as a child, and as he grew older, he took on many responsibilities such as cleaning the shop floor, managing the clientele list as well as various other administrative tasks. It didn’t take long before the owner Guarious, took notice of Erik’s determination as well as his consistency in performing his tasks on a daily basis and determined that Erik exhibited the qualities that would allow him to easily transition to grooming client’s hair.
